　　Meta首席执行官马克・扎克伯格在证人席上的最后一天把Instagram和WhatsApp描绘成了超出他本人预期的成功投资，而不是像美国联邦贸易委员会（FTC）所指控的那样，是他为了巩固垄断地位而采取的“先收购后扼杀”策略的牺牲品。

　　在过去的十年里，Instagram和WhatsApp规模不断扩大，这巩固了Meta的企业地位。如今，美国政府通过联邦贸易委员会提起的反垄断诉讼，试图通过4月14日开始的一场审判解除这些收购交易。

　　周三的大部分时间，他都在试图反驳一个核心指控：收购这两款应用的动机是打压竞争对手，而非改进产品。

　　在扎克伯格看来，WhatsApp早期的崛起代表了人们在线交流方式的一种转变，当时人们的对话开始从像Facebook的动态消息（NewsFeed）这样的公开平台转移到私人聊天线程中。他愿意为收购WhatsApp支付创纪录的金额，因为他将其视为一项“宝贵的”资产，有助于Facebook顺应这一转变。他还将WhatsApp视为在与苹果和谷歌关系紧张时的“筹码”。

　　在法庭上，扎克伯格透露，WhatsApp现在拥有近30亿用户，并且Meta每年通过广告获得100亿美元的收入，这些广告引导用户在WhatsApp、Instagram和Messenger上与商家进行互动。

　　而Instagram在某些方面是Facebook更直接的竞争对手，并且美国政府凭借一些内部电子邮件作为依据，坚称扎克伯格收购这款应用程序是为了“消除”其竞争威胁。

　　在作证期间，扎克伯格表示，在收购Instagram多年后，直到它的用户量达到10亿时，他才“开始担心”Instagram会与Facebook竞争。法庭上展示的内部文件显示，在被收购时，Instagram的用户数量仅约为1000万。扎克伯格预计，如果没有被收购，这款应用程序“极不可能”取得如今这样的成功。
